Auction College
What’s a good theme for an auction-party?
Hi, I’m organizing an auction-party for my school organization. I need help in thinking up a really NEW (meaning, not the usual hawaiian, pirates, colored-theme parties) and GREAT theme for this event. The party is actually a fundraiser and our main program will be an auction (of different items, tech stuff) and a bachelor auction. We will be also inviting some alumni of our school. Age range of guests will be 18-25 (most are college students, some are yuppies), around 150-200 people are expected to attend, coed party. Any ideas of themes, decors, food, etc will be greatly appreciated!
Do it up as “The Bachelor, Rome”! You can pin roses (of different colors)on people as they come in the door. You can make auctions open to only those with a particular color of rose or they can pay for a rose “upgrade” (gold or platinum) that will allow them to participate in any and all auctions. The decor will be easy. Cover the tables in linens of the same color. For center pieces, load the tables with candles and sprinkle rose petals of all colors as well as a sprinkle of gold or silver glitter depending on what you choose as a rose “upgrade”.
Note: Make sure the colors are easy to determine. Red, white, yellow, pink. If you get “fancy” roses, it will make it more difficult.
Roll out a “mock” carpet for your guests to enter on. You can drape fabric (cheap by the yard), over little white Christmas lights around the entrance with plaster columns (that you can buy at craft stores) on either side of the doors as well as inside around the stage, food and/or drink areas.
