Sheriffs foreclosure sale??
My home is in foreclosure. We are letting it go, last payment was made in Nov. of 06. I just got notice this March of 07. It’s a very long, and complicated situation. We actually owe $30,000 more than it is actually worth via a second motgage. We are converting a chapter 13 into a chapter 7.
Anyhow, my question actually is unrelated to all of that. When they actually auction off my house, here VERY shortly, is there going to be a crowd in my yard? Are they coming in to tour it? Will there be a big piece of paper nailed to my door one morning when I wake up telling me to get out?! Is the whole neighborhood going to know? I am quite embarresed about the whole thing. I am in Ohio….Hamilton County.
Thanks for any help!
I’m sorry, but the answer to most of your questions could be “yes”. Even in Ohio, different sheriffs do it different ways. You need to call the sheriff’s office and find out when the foreclosure sale is and WHERE it is. We do them on the Courthouse steps, but not every Ohio county follows the same practice. Go to the source and ask, or watch the legal notices in your local paper–the problem is you can’t be sure what paper it will be printed in. Please–call the sheriff and ask. I represent a sheriff’s department and we hate these matters. The last thing we want to do is evict someone from their home. They’ll tell you the truth and their procedure.
