Live Video Auctions
How do I set up a webcam to transmit wirelessly to a TV?
We are having a live auction to raise money for a local charity. We want to set up a webcam in the dance hall to transmit video and sound to a TV in the restaurant area. The idea is when an item comes up for action people can see and hear what the item is, and if they want to bid they can make there way to the dance hall. The dance hall and restaurant are separated by about 50-100 feet of open space. I have two laptops, a desktop, a router, webcam, and a new flat screen TV, but I’m not sure how to set them up or if I need more equipment can you help. Thanks.
What you can do is attach webcam to one laptop. Then have both laptops connected through the router, and configure it so that it’s transmitting to the another laptop. Google up webcam programs, there’s a lot of those.
When that’s done, connect the laptop that’s receiving to tv with either S-Video cable (no audio though) or HDMI cable (have sound).
If you opt for S-Video, you’ll need to connect your audio card to the TV. The audio card have green jack used for headphones, I think you may need an adapter to convert from this type of cable to white/red cable for audio. Problem is, S-Video is its own channel, so you might want to use an adapter to change s-video into yellow jack cable (AV) so you’d get audio and video in one channel.
Hope this helps!
