How do I put a value on old coins and jewelry?

I have inherited lots and lots of old jewelry and some old coins and stamps, through auctions I go to. Where can I search online or what websites can I look at to check the value of some of these items. Some are for insurance purposes and some for selling purposes. My local shop is trying to rip me off and so I am thinking I have a few things of value because of this but I don’t know for sure. I don’t want to ebay it before knowing somewhat of a value. I would check eBay and check their completed items section. Then average out the selling prices and I think you’ll find their resale value. Good luck.
