Property Auction 10th September

Anyone familiar with property tax laws in Pennsylvania?
I’m behind on my property taxes for 2005 and 2004. I must pay $7,000 by September 10, 2007 or my house will be auctioned. I’ve been in constant contact with the tax office for over a year now. Last September they put me on a payment plan of $600 a month for 12 months, which I could not afford (but I was told that was my only recourse) I paid what I could when I could but never anything close to the $600 required each month.
Is anyone familiar with this type of situation? I live in Pennsylvania, am a single parent and don’t have enough money to pay my regular bills each month. Do I have any recourse? Can this auction be delayed or am I going to end up homeless on September 11th?
Your taxing authority (County in PA) has the ultimate lien position to your home. You must pay. I’m surprised they negotiated with you in the first place (atypical). If you have equity, you may be able to refinance your home and pay the taxes due through the proceeds. Then again, that may not work too well as your credit is sure to be harmed from the delinquent taxes. I’d call a local mortgage company and at least explore that option. Best of luck.
