Silent auctions are often combined with fundraising events such as craft fairs, band and choir concerts, and banquets. Whenever a large group of people, along with one case, inside or outside, you may have a silent auction and raise money for their organization or charity.

Silent auction so called because there is no live auctioneer holding the auction. In contrast, items to be auctioned are on display with a price sheet each element. The auction attendees a written offer your bid amount on paper. At the end of the auction, all the bid sheets are collected and the high bidder pays in the subject of the auction.

The opening and minimum bids are usually predetermined. Bidding usually starts one half of the retail price of the item. It is a good idea to establish the minimum bid increments for people to not just increasing their offer of five cents each time. The higher the dollar value of the item, the largest increase in supply should be. For example, if the auction of a pair of tickets worth 500, start the auction at $ 250 with fixed bid increments at $ 10.00. If you have a gift certificate for $ 40.00 for a salon to start the bidding at $ 20.00 with an increase of $ 1.00.

Most of the time of the auction items are donated by members of your organization or business. When the auction items donated to your organization get to keep one hundred percent of the money the item sells for. You can also use cash donations and purchase items for the silent auction, but you have to make sure you still get a benefit if you purchase items. Gift certificates from local businesses are the most popular items for silent auction. Companies benefit by getting a tax write-off and the possibility of a new customer, when they donate to your auction.

You may have a silent auction with lots of items for the tender or may even be a silent auction when you have only one item to the auction. Depending on your case, the aforementioned air tickets could be used by them for a silent auction.

You can also get creative with their auctions and have a theme. For example, you can create themed gift baskets with items you receive. Baskets can be filled with a wide range of coordination. Some of the possibilities for the items are chocolate lovers, coffee and tea lovers, bath and body, gardening, candles, and sports. Of course, this will require more work of its volunteers in the preparation of the auction.

Some things to remember when holding an auction are:

Sure that its elements are attractive and that people have enough room to gather around the display tables.

Having volunteers on hand to assist bidders and keep an eye on the elements to prevent theft (unfortunately, it happens sometimes).

If you have gift certificates as auction items to ensure that the expiration date gives the buyer a reasonable opportunity to use the certificate.

Announcing the end of the award and that people have more chances supply.

When the tender vacation days is enough time to collect bids, money and labor items. People generally are ready to leave at the end of an event and not want to wait an hour to receive the item.

Always remember to thank your donors and give them a receipt for tax purposes.
