How can I catch a thief on eBay?

Hi a few weeks ago, someone broke into my car and stole my laptop and iPod. The Police filed a report and launched an investigation. Apparetly took some of the suspects, but you have not recovered my belongings. If these thieves of goods sold on eBay and auctions, everything is finished. Is there any way of tracking the stolen goods even more?

if you can get login information for the account of the thief should be able to see their auctions that sold it a. then you could message the people, telling them are in possession of stolen goods, and get your stuff back. that's all I have.
