What people use Cingular SIM cards for elderly?

I've seen auctions on eBay for used SIM cards from Cingular cell phone old and I wonder why on earth anyone buy them? I mean the little orange and white sim cards that go in the back of the phone. What can be used after someone has canceled his cell service?

Typically, auctions are for SIM cards (old or new) that have not yet used. Once the SIM card is removed from the Cingular system (either due to changing the SIM card into the phone or cancel the service) the simulator can not be reused to activate the service (except in some cases, to revive the canceled service in the same phone number). Any card SIM can be used is used to store phone numbers for the transfer from one phone to another, however, since it will not allow for active duty on the phone, the SIM card used is not really much use.
