In my opinion, the main problem is elitism. You have too many players log only with 70 and hang in major cities or continuously run the same instances over and over for everyone in your guild can get epic'd out. Then once you get all the epic gear not want to start a new battalion at lvl 1 and work up to 70. Arena season seemed only worsen the situation. I know some 70s who just want to practice field now so they can finish top 5% and obtain the reward. The best bet is still to roll priest or a warrior can almost always find a group for instances like that. Fortunately, some new players will leave WoW and have some new blood in the game.
