York Auction Houses

Need title of “Chick lit” paperback with shower drain on cover?

Read it in 2000, paperback, shower drain on cover, written by a woman in the 1990′s, her last name may be Polish? About a 20 something wannabe it girl who owns her own apartment in New York, appraises jewels for an auction house. Name Tamara? She makes $26,000/year, always partying, getting her nails done, going to the Hamptons, always broke, she’s had way too many encounters with men, no friends, her life going down the drain. Not your typical chick lit. Been searching Amazon & can’t find it. Doesn’t paint a very pretty picture of NY’s rich & glamorous. The title’s one word I think, a noun, or adjective. The end: she’s banned from a “boyfriend’s” building, loses her own apartment as she wasn’t paying maintenance fees, it’s early morning after a rough night, no place to go, looks for candy in her purse & finds these expensive jewels an old clueless woman gave her to appraise, starts feeling better about her future and “starts walking” east or west on some major NY avenue or street

26k won’t do anything in NYC. Aside from that, I recommend going to 2 places to help you. (Sorry I don’t know it.)

1. A large book store’s customer service desk -Barnes & Nobles or Booksamillion.
2. Go to your local library and ask the librarians. Mine have been able to describe books by the book cover instead of their titles many times.

Good luck!
